Hardkernel launched the new ODROID-XU4 that, as the latest development board of the company, is a modified version of ODROID-XU3 and just based on the same processor Exynos 5422 octa-core, four-core 2GHz Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 four-core 1.4GHz. We would have expected a dev-board with an Exynos SoC 7, but evidently such equipment will touch the ODROID-XU5. Maybe.

Being very similar to the third generation, are few (though important) the innovations introduced with the new ODROID-XU4, which can be summarized below (the differences are bold and, when absent, deleted ):

SoC: Exynos 5422 Octa, four-core ARM Cortex-A15 @ 2.0GHz four core ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1.4GHz;
GPU: Mali-T628 MP6 with support OpenGL ES 3.0 / 2.0 / 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1;
RAM: 2GB LPDDR3 ( 750 MHz band 12GB / s, bus 2x32bit )
Storage: Micro SD card slot (up to 64GB) + eMMC 5.0 (expandable modules 16GB, 32GB, 64GB)
Interfaces: micro HDMI (up to 1080p), DisplayPort (up to 2160p) , HDMI audio jack 3 , 5 mm and S / PDIF (optional) via USB, 2 USB 3.0 Host, USB 2.0
Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet 10/100 / 1000 and WiFi USB dongle with optional antenna;
Expansions: 30-pin header for access to GPIO, IRQ, SPI and ADC + 12-pin headers for GPIO, I2C and I2S ;
Miscellaneous: sensors for measuring power, voltage , power and LED RGB, with active cooling fan, power button and RTC;
Dimensions: 82 x 58 x 22 mm (ODROID -XU3: 94 x 70 x 18mm)
Weight: 60 grams with the fan.

One of the most interesting changes is the replacement of the micro HDMI port, integrated in almost all the old ODROID although it caused some problems for users, with a connector HDMI standard . The Ethernet port is now a Gigabit Ethernet and supports two USB full-size . Some are less interfaces, including a USB OTG, DisplayPort, audio jacks and sensors for monitoring power. RAM now has a frequency 750MHz (and no longer to 933MHz as in ODROID-XU3 and ODROID XU3-Lite). Take a look at the introduction video for a quick overview on the new board.

ODROID-XU4 will be compatible with the software and operating systems already familiar with ODROID-XU3, so there is nothing new; the dev-board supports Ubuntu 4.15 (with OpenGL ES + OpenCL) Android 4.4 and Android 5.0 KitKat Lollipop . ODROID-XU4 is already on sale just $ 74 with a power supply of 5V / 4A, heat sink and fan already mounted. If you are interested, you can buy it on the official Hardkernel or at one of its distributors.
